Better Virtual Soundcheck configuration
The current workflow for setting up a Virtual Soundcheck is - to put it mildly - cumbersome. The output routing for recording has to be done manually. The alternative inputs have to be used for playback so as not to lose the assignment of the original sources. However, this eliminates the alternative input feature for recording - I can no longer switch between a primary and a secondary microphone during recording.
My suggestion would be to map the functionality of the Virtual Soundcheck in a dedicated configuration layer. For example, I could imagine the following workflow: The user activates the Virtual Soundcheck functionality individually for each channel (so the engineer can decide which channels are to be recorded and later played back virtually). The console automatically generates the routing for the recording to an output group selected in the global settings, e.g. the X-Live or Dante Expansion Card. If all channels in the output group are used up, the console displays a warning. The selection of different output groups per channel (e.g. X-Live for channel 1 and Dante for channel 2) makes no sense in my opinion, as otherwise recording and playback cannot be synchronized in a meaningful way.
If the soundcheck is now to be played back, the console replaces the original sources per channel with the virtual soundcheck sources without me having to select an alternative source. This has the advantage that I can switch between the primary and secondary source during recording and this is also recorded in the soundcheck. At the same time, I don't have to worry about the order in which I have to route the alternative sources back into the system in order to restore the original channel assignment.
