Allow Bus-to-Channel Routing with Low Latency & Phase Accuracy

The Behringer Wing is a powerhouse in the digital mixing world, offering unparalleled routing capabilities and flexibility. However, one major limitation that users face is the inability to route a Bus back into a Channel with low latency and phase coherence.

This feature would greatly enhance mixing workflows by allowing engineers to process multiple sources as a single, cohesive element while maintaining full control over advanced routing strategies.

My Proposed Feature

I propose an update to the Behringer Wing firmware that enables users to:

• Route multiple channels to a Bus for shared processing (EQ, Dynamics, etc.)

• Send the processed Bus signal back into a Channel for further routing and additional processing (such as Parallel Compression, FX, or Stem Mixing).

• Ensure ultra-low latency and phase accuracy so that the processed signal aligns perfectly without unwanted phase shifts.

Use Case Example: Kick Drum Processing

Imagine you have a kick drum with multiple microphones (Kick In & Kick Out) and want to process them as one unit:

• Channel 1 (Kick In) & Channel 2 (Kick Out) → routed to Bus 1 for Global EQ & Dynamics

• Bus 1 Output → routed back into Channel 3 (Kick Combined)

• Channel 3 (Kick Combined) → sent to Bus 2 for Parallel Compression → then routed to Main LR or Matrix, Bus for IEM, Monitor Mixes etc

With the current Wing architecture, achieving this workflow requires workarounds such as using Aux channels or external routing, which introduces unnecessary latency and phase issues.

Why This Matters

• More Efficient Processing: Reduces redundant plugin/FX usage and CPU load.

• Advanced Mix Control: Allows for parallel processing and hybrid mixing techniques directly within the Wing.

• Live Sound & Studio Benefits: Enhances workflow for FOH engineers and producers without relying on DAW-based routing.
