Roadmap

Accessibility Enhancement Request for Music Tribe Products!

Dear Music Tribe Team,

My name is Ruan Lins. I am a professional audio technician and music producer with extensive experience working with Behringer and Midas consoles, including the X Air series (such as the XR18), X32, Wing, MR18, and M32.

As a blind user, I operate physical mixing surfaces like the X32 and M32 by memorizing the exact positions of buttons, menu structures, and the number of encoder turns needed to reach specific functions. This physical, muscle-memory-based workflow demands a great deal of time, effort, and precision, and places a heavy cognitive load on the user—especially when working under time pressure in professional environments.

Unfortunately, the official control software—such as X Air Edit, X32 Edit, and Wing Edit—and the mobile apps are not accessible with screen readers like NVDA (on Windows) or VoiceOver (on iOS). As a result, blind professionals cannot interact with the full potential of these consoles through software, limiting independence and flexibility.

One helpful community-driven initiative is the Azaosc project, which enables accessible OSC-based control for consoles like the XR18, X32, and M32. However, this solution is still unofficial and does not yet support some models like the XR16 and Wing.

I respectfully ask that Music Tribe consider making accessibility improvements to the software and mobile apps for Behringer and Midas consoles. Key suggestions include:

Full screen reader support on all platforms;

Keyboard-navigable user interfaces;

Proper accessibility labels for buttons, sliders, and menus;

Logically structured layouts and navigation;

Optional audio or text-based feedback where applicable.

These changes would empower blind and visually impaired professionals to use these excellent consoles more independently and productively, aligning Music Tribe with global standards for inclusion and accessibility in the professional audio field.

I am more than willing to assist by offering suggestions, testing features, and providing detailed feedback, should your team wish to engage with the visually impaired community.

Thank you for your attention and understanding. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Ruan Lins
