Roadmap

8" ultra-wide channel editing display in future WING models

For future models in the WING series, like the WING LIVE or WING V2, please consider replacing the current 2.4" sub-display and status LEDs in the selected channel with an ultrawide display screen, such as

  • a) a bar-type 8" ultrawide color display (32:9, 1600×480 px; or 4:1, 1920×480 px, etc.)

  • b) dual 5" color displays (16:9, 800×480 px) side-by-side.

This would allow a high-res channel editing UI, which could re-use parts of the main UI for input, dynamics (gate/comp), EQ / filter, and FX bus / insert editing screens, with mininal or even no changes. Below is the mockup of such GUI (not to scale):

Current 2.4" color display in the channel editing section is tiny, and although it has the same 6 rotary knobs as on the Main 10" touchscreen, limited screen estate makes them painfully underutilized. A larger widescreen display would enable soft labels aligned with the 6 control knobs, just like those found on the main 10" display:

The viewable screen area for either 8” ultrawide configuration or dual 5“ display would be ~21 x 7 cm, similar to current display and LED section.

NB With the proposed DisplayLink USB monitor support, channel editing UI could be rendered on an external ultra-wide USB display, improving the ergonomics of the channel editing section for the users of current WING / WING BK.
